Positions Currently Available

The Florida Safety Council is seeking enthusiastic individuals with excellent presentation skills for Instructor positions. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Our current staffing needs are in the Kissimmee area, however, applications are also being accepted for our classes in Orange, Seminole, Lake and Brevard Counties.

Motorcycle Safety Training Instructor, Central Florida

Qualifications
  • Must possess a current Motorcycle Safety Foundation Certification as a National Instructor, or be prepared to complete a training process. Should own and operate a motorcycle on a frequent basis.
  • Must possess a valid motorcycle endorsement on a valid Florida Drivers License for at least three years prior to application.
  • Must be at least twenty-one years of age and have completed high school or high school equivalency.
  • Driver License may not have been suspended for any reason within three years prior to making application.
Description

Will teach only the approved Motorcycle Safety Foundation curriculums. Demonstrate and teach only MSF approved range exercises. Ensure that all class participants have on MSF required clothing and approved equipment prior to starting any range exercise. To conduct interactive classes including lecture, videos, and class discussions. Instruction in riding techniques, behaviors, and attitudes for individuals who attend the course.

DUI Program Evaluator, Central Florida

Qualifications - as established by the Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in the field of Human Services or related field
  • Be able to document three years or 4,000 hours direct experience in the field of chemical dependency treatment
  • Master's Degree may be substituted for 2,000 hours of experience
  • Windows-based computer typing experience

DHSMV must approve and issue Temporary Certifications prior to actual hiring of the DUI Evaluator applicant. Standard Certification process must be completed within 6 months and requires appointment observations, a four-day state pre-service training held in Orlando, and conduct observed evaluations. After standard certification, DUI Evaluators shall complete a minimum of twenty-four hours advanced training during each 2 year DHSMV certification period.

Description
  • Conduct psychosocial evaluations of students enrolled in the DUI Counterattack Programs to determine the existence of an alcohol and/or substance abuse problem.
  • Score and evaluate all psychometric instruments. Consult the Evaluator's Guide for Critical Factors to make appropriate assessments.
  • Provide an explanation of the evaluation and make recommendations to the student.
  • This position requires sitting, standing, bending, reaching and possibly lifting up to 25 lbs. Applicant must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate office machines and equipment and possess a clear speaking voice with normal range of hearing and vision.

DUI Program Instructor, Central Florida

Level I - 12 hour course, Level II - 21 hour course, or both

Qualifications - as established by the Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles
  • Minimum B.A. Degree in Human Services, Criminal Justice, Adult/Secondary Educational or Traffic Safety.
  • Be able to document 5,000 hours or three (3) years experience in the field of addictions, criminal justice, secondary education, or human services.
  • Master's Degree may be substituted for 2,000 hours of experience.

Level II Instructor: In addition to the DHSMV requirements listed above, the individual must be able to document 252 hours of group facilitation experience, functioning as group leader or co-leader.

DHSMV must approve and issue Temporary Certifications prior to actual hiring of DUI Instructor applicant. Standard Certification process must be completed within 6 months and requires course observations, a five-day state pre-service training held in Orlando, and a practice teach of the course(s). Description

DUI Instructors will provide handouts and grade pre and post-tests as appropriate. In addition the DUI Instructor will also Ensure that the curriculum is taught in accordance with DHSMV Administrative Rules; that all required teaching materials, including audio-visual material are used according to the DHSMV curriculum(s); and that each class begins and ends on time to ensure students receive the required number of hours of instruction.

This position requires sitting, standing, bending, reaching and possibly lifting up to 25 lbs. Applicant must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate office machines and equipment and possess a clear speaking voice with normal range of hearing and vision.

Customer Service Representative, Orlando, FL

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent and expereince in:

  • Customer Service
  • Data Entry
  • Experience with Microsoft products a plus
Description

Perform general clerical and data entry duties including registering clients. Perform cashier duties: collecting correct fees and reconciling drawer with transaction report. Maintain basic working knowledge of all programs offered by the Safety Council. Assist with the daily filing of all client data. Perform other duties as requested.

The Florida Safety Council will train qualified individuals.

Basic Driver Improvement Instructor

Qualifications

Degree preferred and/or experience in:

  • Motor transportation.
  • Law Enforcement.
  • Instruction/Facilitation.
Description

To conduct interactive classes including lecture, videos and class discussion. Instruction in driving techniques, behaviors and attitudes for individuals who voluntarily attend the course or individuals court-ordered to attend the program.

The Florida Safety Council will train qualified individuals.

Driver Education Instructor

Qualifications
  • Good physical condition.
  • Resident of the state of Florida.
  • Possess a valid Florida driver's license.
  • Successfully complete a thirty-two hour course and pass a written test administered by the Division of Drivers Licenses.
  • Position Description: Train students to operate a motor vehicle in a dual control vehicle.
