Traffic Collision Avoidance Course
Purpose of Traffic Collision Avoidance Course
Florida Safety Council Traffic School offers the Traffic Collision Avoidance Course. This class is for drivers who are referred by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles because they have been involved in two traffic crashes within a two year period or because they had property damages of over $500 and/or injuries. This course is certified by the State of Florida.
Traffic Collision Avoidance Course Goal
TCAC teaches defensive driving techniques, behaviors and attitudes to individuals responsible for causing traffic crashes involving property damage and/or injuries.
Traffic Collision Avoidance Course Content
- Dangers and costs of speeding and driving behaviors.
- Effects of alcohol and drugs.
- Importance of safety belts and restrain systems.
- Proper following distances.
Traffic Collision Avoidance Course Format
- Four-hour class conducted by a certified instructor.
- Student workbook.
- An interactive format including lecture, videos and student interaction in class discussions.
Traffic Collision Avoidance Course Availability
Class sessions are available 7 days a week at over 20 convenient classroom locations throughout Central Florida as well as online at TCAC Online.
Registration
Take TCAC online or enroll by telephone or in person at one of our office locations. It is helpful if students have their Court Order or DHSMV correspondence and the citations to ensure the correct information is listed for attendance reporting to the Clerk of Court and DHSMV.
