Purpose of Domestic Violence Intervention Program

DVIP is a program dedicated to teaching new skills that replace abusive, violent, conflict resolution. The program promotes “zero tolerance” of violent behavior and it is designed for those who have been abusive to their partners.

This program follows the “Duluth Model,” which is a nationally recognized batterers’ intervention program. The program meets the Department of Corrections Administrative Rules or Batterers Intervention Programs for state certification and is listed on Orange and Seminole Counties provider lists. The program also offers Drug/Alcohol evaluations by a Department of Corrections Certified Assessor with a Department of Professional Regulation license and also a Certified Additions Professional.

May be court-ordered.

Goal

To provide participants with information and practical tools to change those values, beliefs and behaviors which have provided the foundation for their use of violence and other methods of abuse.
