DUI Course Info:
DUI Level I
- Secure online DUI Course registration is available.
- Designed for first time DUI offenders.
- Classes are offered throughout Central Florida.
- Taught by State of Florida certified DUI Instructors.
Purpose DUI Level I Class
Designed for individuals who have been convicted of only one Driving Under the Influence (DUI), or one DUI amended to Reckless Driving. First Offenders only.
MANDATED per FS 316.192(4) and 316.193(5) with Level of education determined based upon the number of lifetime DUI/RD offenses.
DUI Level 1 May be court-ordered for other offenses, e.g. open container-driver.
DUI Level 1 May be DHSMV required for out of state convictions or to obtain hardship license or Business Purposes Only permit during an Administrative Suspension.
Goal
To identify those who may be harmfully involved with alcohol and other drugs and to educate all drivers with DUI related convictions about the effects of alcohol and drugs on driving.
DUI Level I Course Format
- Twelve hour (12 hr) educational course.
- All students undergo a one hour psychosocial evaluation interview conducted by a certified DUI evaluator.
- Course is taught by a State of Florida certified DUI Instructor.
- Teaching tools include lectures, class discussion, handouts, videos.
DUI Level I Course Content
- Effects of alcohol and drugs on a driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Review of Florida traffic laws relating to DUI.
- Review of DUI process through the court system and DHSMV.
- Learn types of alcohol usage and to identify their own drinking/drug use patterns.
- Learn about drug and alcohol resources available in the community.
Course Availability
- Classes are available in English and Spanish.
- Classes are available weekly, days, evenings and weekends.
- Classes are located in Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Brevard Counties.
Registration
Basic requirements needed to register are:
- Driver License Number
- Arrest Affidavit (Arrest Report or Traffic Crash Report) - must be a legible copy
- Citation – must be a legible copy
- Results of Breath or Blood test, Urinalysis results, Refusal Slip
- Court Disposition or Court Order – (if have already appeared in Court or been convicted)
- Picture ID-- such as a current Florida Identification Card, US Passport. (NOT EXPIRED)
- Complete, officialLifetime Florida Driving Record (call for information on official sources)
The complete, official Lifetime Florida Driving Record must be provided by the client at the time of the evaluation appointment. If the Lifetime Driving Record is supplied by the client, the Driving Record must be an official DHSMV-based printout, less than 30 days old, and reflect a lifetime record. If another state issued the Driver License, the lifetime record from that state must also need to be presented.

**Clients that have a Florida Driver's License Number may pay an additional fee of $14.00 (cash, credit card or money order) at the time of the evaluation appointment to have the Lifetime Driving Record processed by Florida Safety Council.

**Clients may also contact the DHSMV, Clerk of Court or an Internet resource to obtain a current copy of the Lifetime Driving Record.

Online registration is available. Students may register prior to conviction. Registration normally takes at least 11/2 hours.

DUI Registration Fees and Re-schedule Fees are set by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles for all Florida DUI Programs.
